Recently a new photo came to light. I was contacted by someone who bought flea market photos and found that many of the had writing on the back that clearly identified them as Pryors. She found the TN Pryor website and has provided a copy of one of the oldest photos for Pryor researchers. The photo is identified on the back as The Parents of J. B. Pryor. Other photos ID this person as James Brock Pryor. With some reserach we now have the lineage of these Pryors.

James Brock Pryor was born in July 1844 in Graves Co., KY. He is on the 1850 through 1870 Census in Graves Co. His parents were William Pryor b. 1825 and Caroline Lockridge. Several family trees on the Ancestry website place William as a son of Jonathan Pryor and a grandson of Richard Pryor and Mourning Thompson.
The photos correspond with the census records that reveal this Pryor line’s movement from Kentucky, to Texas, and to Memphis, Tennesse. The photo of William and Caroline Pryor was taken by Hunt photography in Mayfield, Graves County, KY. William Pryor was in Graves Co. on the 1850 and 1860 Census, by 1870 he was recorded in Hickman Co., KY, and in 1880 he was recorded near his son James B. Pryor in Grayson Co., TX.
Other photos are of Lola Allison of Mayfield, KY. The Census records indicate was a grand-daughter of William and Caroline, her mother was Lou Anna Pryor b. 1856. Another photo is of Opie Cullins, married to Esther a daughter of James Brock Pryor. James’ wife Nancy Margaret Pryor is in another photo taken in Memphis.
