1750 Newspaper Article – At the Assizes held at Guildford on the Crown Side, Andrew Whittaker, late Servant to Messrs. Hanson and Clark of the Borough of Southwark, Dry-salters, was found guilty of Felony, for robbing them of a great Quantity of Indico, and received Sentence of Transportation for seven years; and one JOHN PRIER, a notorious Offender, was tried and found guilty of receiving the said Indico, knowing it to be stolen, and received Sentence of Transportation for fourteen years. 1814 Resident at Christ Church, Surrey – “Yesterday George Smith was charged with stealing 12 ducks, the property of MR. PRIOR of Hatfield Street, Christ Church, Surrey. The prisoner was stopped on Sunday morning about three o’clock, in the Strand, by the patrole, with several ducks in his posession. The prosecutor identified the ducks.
