This day Samuel Prior personally appeared before me, a justice of the peace for the county aforesaid, and made oath, that he did on the 7th instant lose out of his pocket, a bond from William Chambers to him amounting to Eighty four dollars, and which was dated the day preceeding, with Thomas West as a witness. given under my hand this 10th day of July, 17798.

The announcement of the burning of Mayfield, Kentucky by the Lincolnites… We had the pleasure of meeting yesterday with Capt. J. H. Nelson of the Kentucky army, formerly of Nashville, who has been in Mayfield since the reported burning…
On Wednesday night, Capt. Nelson, thinking it probably they might return, and being alone, his company having been ordered forward to Bolling Green, left Mayfield, and went out to the residence of Major Pryor, five miles in the country, whered he spent the evening.

1851 Criminal Case – “Samuel Greene and Hannah Lewis were arraigned on the charges of James PRYOR, who accused them of attempting to fire his house. Pryor failed to appear and the case was dismissed. (The Louisville Daily Courier, Nov 18, 1851)
1851 Legal Notice – Martha Pryor vs Mrs. Lewis, and Mrs. Lewis vs Martha Pryor. Cross warrants between the parties to keep peace. One party have been stewing pumpkins and making Sage Tea, and the other party had raised in general stew all over the house, and raised a pole 40 ft long, more or less, over her head, and threaten to break her head. In addition, one side intended to use an imaginary Bowie knife some 7 ft long, with which to sever the abdomen of whoever came within two yards of the house. 1851 Legal Notice – James Pryor and Martha Pryor were arraigned on a peace warrant by Hannah Lewis. They all fell out about a load of wool or a loan of wood and Mrs. Lewis said Mrs. Pryor had her clothes ate bodaciously up with poison, Vitriol she threw up on them and that she then threatened her with an axe. The officers stated that Mr. Pryor resisted all efforts to serve the warrant, and wouldn’t let them see him. Mrs. Pryor Said that it was a little brother of hers that damage the clothes, and the Mr P would willingly pay the damages, but added that the Lewis had threatened the boy in the most air full way. The Court held the priors to bail for their good behavior a year in the sum of $200. The Louisville Daily Courier September 25th 1851

Legal Notice 1853 – Mary Pryor was up on a piece for it by George Bland, and Bland was up on another warrant by Mrs Pryor. Bland is a free negro, and the Pryor is a white woman, and a tenant of his, and a lady witness testified that Pryor is always exhillerated with the ardent, though mayhap not drunk. A neighbor lady testified that both the Pryors are disagreeable and annoying and that the Pryor was up after 11 at night beating his children. Bland, who appears to be a very quiet colored man, has offered to pay Pryor if he will leave the house, and forgive him the rent too. Other Witnesses stated that the two women, Mrs B and Mrs. P, world at a great rate, and the court to quiet the mus held both sides to bail for their good behavior — Bland $300, and the pair of Pryor in sums of $200. (Book No. 3) (There are land grants to John and Mary Ferguson on Muddy Creek in 1799. The Ewing Family Association website states that James Ewing purchased land from Robert Craddock in 1794.)
